Landon is such a joy to have in our lives. His arrival into the world didn't go over as planned. First off, I was a week past my due date so needless to say, I was VERY pregnant! We were supposed to go in March 5th to be induced, so they took an ultrasound and were expecting a 9 pound baby! We called the morning of the 5th at 6:30 but they had no beds. So after getting all ready to go early in the morning we had to just hang out until lunch time. We finally got a call around 11:30 saying to come on in because they had a bed available. But... as soon as we opened the door to the labor and delivery ward we were greeted with an "I'm sorry, we just gave away your bed." Apparently active labor gets you ahead of someone being induced! So we went to the waiting room because they were supposed to have another room opening up. 2 hours later we were greeted with "I'm sorry, but we gave away your room." So we packed up and went home! After all that, we were back at home... waiting.
We got a call that night around 8 saying come on in... again. We were admitted and were going to hang out in a hospital room to be induced the next morning. Except somewhere around 10 or so Jessie started going into labor by herself. Good thing we were already at the hospital!!! Real contractions started around 12:30 in the morning, water broke around 1:30, epideral around 3, and then Jessie passed out until around 5:30. Seems a little wierd, but I think they were trying to wait until the morning, so earlier in the night Jessie got some Ambien and a pain medication and she was knocked out! After the epideral she was actually sleeping through contractions! Thank goodness for modern medicine! Too bad Jeff didn't get any Ambien...
Unfortunately, after 2 hours of pushing her brains out and barfing up last night's dinner, the Doc decided Landon's nugget was twisted in a less than optimal position and so was Jessie's pelvis, sts. So at 8 in the morning the Doc changed over and the new Doc came in to talk to us about a C section. Even more unfortunate for Jessie he suggested a vertical incision just in case he needed any extra room, and then used staples to close her up. That is all there is to say about that...
But in the end Jessie was just fine and we were truly blessed with a beautiful baby boy. Although Tote says he looks like a cross between me (Jeff) and him, we all know that isn't possible, and fortunately for Landon he actually looks pretty much exactly like me! What a lucky little man!!! Thanks to everyone who had us in their thoughts and prayers and for everyone who helped us throughout our ordeal. Luckily Jeff's parents were able to be there since they stayed after his graduation and helped out a lot while Jessie and Landon were still in the hospital. Jessie's mom, Lita Loca, was able to come into town for her spring break and helped while we were transitioning to life with a new baby!
Enjoy the pics of the most beautiful baby boy you have ever seen (at least that we have ever seen!!!!)
